Advantages: Remedial and restorative....apparently
Disadvantages: Tastes very very bitter, made me shudder, not a fan
Twinings is a company founded in 1706. They make and export over 200 teas these days. The first tea they imported in 1706 was Green Tea.
The tea
Green Tea is full of antioxidants which are designed to be very good for you. A recent study has suggested that brown tea (what we accept as regular tea) is actually just as good for you if not better, but the elemnts in green tea work in different ways.
Twinings describe their Green Tea as a light and fresh tasting tea, which, to be honest, I can't see. All I can say is that, I am glad it is a herbal remedy as I cannot describe the flavour as anything close to light and fresh. It is a very abrupt flavour, extremely bitter in aftertaste, and not very full of flavour. It leaves me with an empty feel, but then all fruit teas do that. I was tempted to add a spoonful of honey, which is their suggestion if you want a sweeter taste, but I did not have any to hand.
Conclusion
It is reported that green tea has restorative benefits, and was discovered in 2737 BC by a Chinese Emperor by accident. I shall certainly not be making the same accident. This tea is not for me. The flavour makes me not want to finish the drink. I am sure the herbal benefits are as reported, but I will not finish this to find out.
Twinings' Green Tea is available in packs of 20 for £1.18 from Tesco.
Thanks for reading.
