Advantages: Caffeine free
Disadvantages: Take a little getting used to!
I used to be a big coffee drinker, but a few years ago decided that I wanted to make some changes in my diet and lifestyle so decided to quit caffeine altogether. It was then that I decided to try some fruity tea bags as they are caffeine free.
I decided to try the Twinings fresh & fruity mixed berry selection box of tea bags, in my local Tesco they cost 98p for a box of 25 individually wrapped sachets. I chose this box as it contains 5 different flavours of tea bags and not just the one, as a lot of the other boxes did.
The box contains five tea bags of each flavour and the flavours it contains are, Strawberry & Mango, blueberry & apple, cranberry & pomegranate, Echinacea & raspberry and Raspberry, strawberry and Loganberry.
The box itself is pink in colour and on the front shows you the different flavours it contains with a picture of each of the fruits that it contains. Inside the box each separate flavour of tea bag is wrapped in a plastic wrapper, the tea bag is then inside a paper packet, to keep them as fresh as possible. I found this was very handy when I wanted to take a few tea bags out with me, as because they were individually wrapped it kept them fresh in my bag.
On the back of the box it suggests that you allow one bag per person and leave to infuse in boiling water for two to three minutes, it does also say that you can add honey for extra sweetness.
I have to say that I did try just soaking the tea bag for a couple of minutes but found that the liquid was quite tasteless and not strong enough for me, therefore I now leave the tea bag in for the full duration! I then find that the drink tastes lovely and strong, just the way I like it!! The tea bags also have a piece of string attached to them with paper on the end, therefore, in my opinion it is a lot easier to deal with than a normal tea bag without a string.
I must admit that when I first tried these drinks after switching from coffee, I found that they smelt a lot nicer than they tasted!! However, I persevered with them and now really enjoy the taste of them. You can taste the exact flavour that they are and they taste very fruity indeed. My favourite is the strawberry and Mango, as with every sip of the drink I taste both the flavours of the two fruits, it is delicious!!!
Summary: I now really enjoy these drinks!
