Advantages: Usual twinigs standard, good value for money

Disadvantages: New packaging leaves a lot to be desired

I have used Twinings teas for several years and have had their fruit teas, green teas and normal teas and due to being pregnant and not being able to drink coffee very often decided to invest in a box of fruit teas so that I can still have a hot drink.

The box has now has 25 bags in itstead of the 20 that it used to contain and cost me 99p from Asda. The box contains 5 flavours, Strawberry and Mango, Blueberry and Apple, Cranberry and Pomegranate, Echinacea and Raspberry and Raspberry, Strawberry and Loganberry.

The box itself comes wrapped in plastic to keep it airtight and protect the contents which comes off very easily once you find the opening end. Inside the box you find the 5 different flavours have been wrapped together in plastic. The problem with this is that where the box itself has a bit of plastic that you can easily remove the plastic on the tea bags doesn't so you have to be very careful when opening them not to damage the bags.

If like me you like to mix and match the tea then you will have to open all five packets of bags or have all five versions of each flavour one after the other.

The bags themselves are still within the usual Twinings paper envelopes but instead of the piece of cardboard that used to be attached to the end of string its now the bit of paper from the paper envelope which you have to detach from the envelope first. The perferations on these are not brilliant and I found it easier just to leave the whole envelope attached to the bag when I put it in my cup.

The box advises that each tea bag should be in the cup for 2 minutes but I found that this gave of the smell of the tea but not much flavour to the water so I left them in for about 5 minutes which improved it.

Overall these teas are the usual standard that you expect from Twinings but I'm still not convinced over the new packaging that they have used, but for 99p for 25 bags they do offere good value for money.

Summary: Overall another good selection from twinings
