... was the first brand to do this . The business hit a snag during WWI, when the government announced that it was going to ration tea, by buying up all that was available and selling it on at a set price to retailers . The only problem was, the government was only doing this with leaf tea, and not with the smaller leaf edge of 'fanning' tea. John Sumner tried to get the government to supply him with the product he needed, but failed - so he included circulars in his packages asking customers to write to the Tea Contr...more

Premium Review Typhoo: Not my favourite cuppa! (403 words)
by - written on 10/09/09 (Very useful, 32 readings)
Rating:

I only ended up with Typhoo Tea Bags because my local shop had run out of my favourite PG Tips and these were the only half decent brand on the shelf. Typhoo doesn't produce such a rounded cuppa as, say, PG Tips or Tetley. I also find the brewed tea to have a slightly earthy flavour that while not unpleasant is a little overwhelming, especially should you accidentally brew your tea for longer than you originally planned. The best way to make a cup of Typhoo I've found is to allow it to sit in the boiling water for at least three minutes before giving the pot a good stir around, if brewing in a cup you can squeeze the bag against the side although ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review * Shout Woo Hoo For Typhoo! * (717 words)
by - written on 21/08/09 (Very useful, 24 readings)

* What is Typhoo ? * Typhoo is a brand which makes teabags. The business began in 1903 by John Sumner jr from Birmingham , England , United Kingdom. The brand is now owned by Apeejay Surrendra Group ; they bought the brand for a huge £80 million! The brand is manufactured in Moreton on the Wirral. * Where can I buy Typhoo ? * Typhoo is sold in supermarkets and most grocery stores. I bought my box of 100 from my local Sainsburys for a price of £1.99 which was clearly stated on the box. I thought this was a good price , as for me 100 tea bags will last a long time. * Packaging * The Typhoo teabags came in a box. The top half of the box had a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Typhoo: A real quali-tea product! (951 words)
by - written on 13/10/09 (Very useful, 29 readings)
Rating:

I adore tea- I drink several cups a day, and I drink all kinds of varieties . But when it comes to the bog standard teabag cuppa, I have to confess to not having any real brand loyalty - and in fact, I'll generally stick to supermarket own brands However, occasionally I'll run out, and if I can't be bothered to go to the shops, I have to make do with the small selection at my local shop, whichc consists of either Typhoo, or Happy Shopper . It's perhaps strange that since I'm a massive fan of supermarket economy brands that I despise the Happy Shopper brand - and shamefully, the only reason for this is that when I was a child, buying 'Happy Shopper' was ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review QT Instant tasty tea - but beware diebetics (193 words)
by - written on 29/05/01 (Useful, 767 readings)
Rating:

I travel a lot and in a lot of hotels overseas, including the more celubrious ones, it is not always possible to get a cup of tea in the room in the mornings. That is why I became a fan of Typhoo Qt instant tea. It is conveniently packaged in a jar with the whitener alreAdy in. I always enjoyed an excellent brew of a morning with this product. The flavour initially took a little bit of getting used to, but then I really got a taste and loved it. In fact I gave some to some staff working on one of my projects in Central China and they loved it - asking me to take them a few jars each time I returned. Unfortunately, I was recently diagnosed ...  Read the complete review
