Advantages: Very different style of Lithuanian beer

Disadvantages: Hard to find sometimes

This is one of the only Lithuanian beers that strays from the straight and narrow of the tasty lager. The sort of thing that you can drink during the winter in the countryside. For those who have never been to Lithuania - it is important to note that winter goes for something like six months of the year. Its uncomfortable, but this beer helps.

Cooks will love this.
If you want something to go with your steak, either to drink or to throw into the sauce, then this is your beer.

The nose is very standard for a porter - burnt sugar, a bit of coffee and some fresh wheat too.

The taste is long and enjoyable - Malt and toffee. At the end it gets more sour, but it is pleasantly agreeable.

The label suggests that it is somehow different from other beers in the Lithuanian gamut of beverages. Obviously Svyturys, which owns Utenos and all its brands, wants to make this one seem a bit special.

The golden label and nice font make one associate the beer with aristocracy. Its all good with the steak though! And don't forget the chips!

Summary: Try it every night for a year and tell me it isn't as good as Guinness!
