Take a perfectly good tasting bottle of Coke then ruin it completely by adding Vanilla flavour to it, this at some point seemed a good idea to those people at Coca Cola.
I first tried this drink for no apparent reason, I could have had a normal Coke or anything else for that matter but I picked up a 500ml bottle of Coke with Vanilla and headed off to the counter to pay for it.
When purchased it was out the fridge but by the time I got round to drinking it (about 1 hour later) it was quite warm. I took a big mouthful and it foamed up in my mouth and all I could taste was the vanilla, no sign of a cola taste at all.
I decided that as I had no chance to get out to the shop for another bottle of juice and the only thing on offer in the way of drinks at my office was tea or coffee that I would stick the bottle back in the fridge for a bit then have it later.
After around an hour and a half in the fridge I returned to this drink but I have to say it was little or no better cold than it had been warm. The taste of vanilla was still far too strong although Coca Cola claim it to be only a hint of vanilla.
I do quite like vanilla but I expected just a background hint through the coke and instead I got a huge vanilla hit with very little cola taste, not enjoyable in my opinion.
I believe this disaster has gone from our shelves now and hopefully forever, it was a bad idea and should be confined to history now. Coca Cola have since added different types of flavouring to their cola and some have been quite good, my favourite being Coke with lemon as it is just a hint of lemon through the cola, by all means Coca Cola give us flavours but don't over power the cola taste!!
Summary: Too much vanilla and not enough cola!
