Disadvantages: A bIt sickly
'Coca-Cola Vanilla' - previously known as 'Vanilla Coke', was first released to some European countries in 1992. When it made its debut in the UK a year later, the product had a mixed reaction. At first sales were high, mainly due to the curiosity factor (which was actually how the product was first marketed - with the "Reward Your Curiosity" campaign), however sales quickly diminished, and the product was subsequently discontinued in Britain by the start of 2006. However, as of 2007, the product was re-instated to the American, New Zealand, and Chinese market.
The idea for combining coke and vanilla apparently was first experimented with at the 1982 World's Fair in Tennessee. Therefore, the Coca-Cola company had a few years to think about how to perfect the product, which they actually quoted would be "the greatest innovation since Diet Coke" - hmm - how wrong they would be!
I only ever tried Coca-Cola Vanilla on a few occasions, and I don't think I got off to the best start with the product. My first experience was on a hot day, and I purchased a can from a vending machine. Unfortunately, the machine was malfunctioning, and the can of Vanilla Coke arrived in my hands hot. As I was thirsty, I drank it anyway - but it wasn't the most pleasant of experiences. I found it sickly, and because of its warmth, it did little to quench my thirst. I gave it another go a week later - this time with a cold version, but still wasn't impressed. Again it just didn't taste right to me - I expected a Coke flavour, but instead I got ice-cream.
Coca-Cola Vanilla is an interesting product, and I know a lot of people enjoy it, but it's just not for me - Give me a regular coke anyday.
I wish it the best of luck.
