Advantages: better for you than the full sugar version.

Disadvantages: Poor taste and little or no fizz.

Many, many moons ago, back when dinosaurs ruled the earth, I used to love drinking Vimto but like many things in life you move on and your tastes change. The other day however, I found myself with a can of Vimto in my hand in the petrol station as I was paying for my petrol.

I don't know what made me choose Vimto over my usual diet Pepsi but whatever the reason I really enjoyed the change and Vimto was exactly how I remembered it. The problem is though I only ever drink diet juice these days and when I tried the diet Vimto the next day it was a different story all together.

The fruity taste had gone somewhat synthetic and the sweeteners in the drink were very evident in the taste, not only had the taste gone but it seemed it had taken some of the fizz with it and the usual sparkly bubbles dancing on the tongue had turned very flat and not nearly as enjoyable.

The tins look very similar and the scent when you snap back the ring pull is almost identical but it is after all the taste that counts and the diet version is seriously lacking in that department so it will just be the odd can of original vimto every now and then for me.
