Advantages: The delicious secret Vimto flavour
Disadvantages: None for me
Vimto Original
1L
I decided at a certain time to make the transition from juice to squash but I did not want something that tasted boring, and suddenly Vimto sparkled in front of my eyes. This squash is only available from Asda at the moment in 1L and 2L plastic bottles in two variations: the original one I am reviewing here and it costs £1.20 per 1L bottle, and the one with no added sugar and it costs exactly the same.
To prepare this squash you are supposed to mix one part of it with four parts water, but I found that this was too light for my taste and mixing it with three parts water makes it too concentrated, so going somewhere between the two would be perfect. To enjoy it at its best, all you have to do is store it in the fridge and drink it before end date, but don't worry it has a very long shelf life.
Once you open the bottle you are welcomed by the fantastic aroma of Vimto that we are all familiar with. This squash contains no more than 10% fruit juice from concentrate (grape, blackcurrant, and raspberry) in addition to sugar, sweetener (sodium saccharin) and other added ingredients. The best thing about the taste has to be the fantastic flavour that can be found in Vimto only and which contains natural extracts of fruits, herbs, barely malt and spices.
The 250ml serving of diluted squash gives you no more than 65 calories and 20% of your recommended daily amount of Vitamin C which is also added to the product, but with 16.5g sugar, you are left with only the sugar content to consider. It is definitely recommended.
