Advantages: Great flavour, can buy no added sugar version, good hot or cold
Disadvantages: You might get hooked!
Vimto holds many childhood memories for me, but then it was in glass bottle and I drank it with a straw...and it was always fizzy. But now, you see, it doesn't have to be fizzy.
I actually prefer vimto cordial, which you make into a squash with water to the fizzy variety. It certainly has a unique flavour and contains grape, blackcurrant and raspberry juice along with a secret mixture of herbs and spices. It really is quenching a delicious. This review is for the original vimto cordial, but it is available in a no added sugar version which tastes just as good, I can't tell the difference. A good way to save a few calories if you are watching your weight without compromising on taste or flavour.
Of course, vimto is great served cold, with or without ice, but I love it hot in the winter. I was always given hot blackcurrant as a child, so I guess it grew out of this. It's really good hot and makes a change from tea and coffee. I keep a bottle at work in the winter.
Vimto cordial contains 10% fruit juice, vitamin c and no artificial colours. A 725ml bottle will set you back around £1.40, but is often on offer. Larger bottles are available. A 725ml bottle will give you, on average 14 servings, so pretty good value.
A real winner!
Summary: A great drink for the whole family
