In a list of my favourite things, purple will always be near the top. I'm not discriminant at all when it comes to purple with the exeption of lilac. Whoever thought lilac could masquerade as purple was sorely mistaken! Now, Vimto comes under the banner of purple things so I am instinctively drawn to it. The can is violet purple fading into magenta purple which stands out well against the other cans of soft drink in the shop fridges. With its red writing across the front you can't help but notice it. Well done Vimto!

Now I prefer my Vimto, as with other soft drinks, in a can. I feel it tastes 'sharper' and with a better quality of fizz. I tell myself it's because the bubbles bounce off the metal can better but this is pure speculation. Upon opening a chilled - but not freezing - can of Vimto you can smell the fruits. It is made from grapes, blackcurrants and raspberries. Personally, I can tast the grapes but if I hadn't read the ingredients wouldn't be sure on the other fruits. The taste is somehow a lot more delicate than other drinks where there is an overpowering flavour. The fruits in Vimto balance perfectly to almost become a totally separate 'purple fruit' unique to Vimto. The fizz isn't too strong and this makes the drink really refreshing and very enjoyable.


We all know fizzy drinks aren't great for us and Vimto is no exception. It contains 11g carbohydrate and 44.5kcal per 100g which is even higer than coca cola at 10.4g carb and 42kcal /10g. That means bad news for your teeth and sometimes if you drink enough Vimto you can feel that horrible sugary coating on your teeth. Therefore I have to say VImto is great, tastes great but only really consumable in moderation for your health's sake!

Summary: Like all nice things it's not over healthy!
