Advantages: Premix Fizzy Vimto! Refreshing and fruity

Disadvantages: Not as lush as making your own using cordial and lemonade

Having been brought up around Vimto cordial, at some stage in the past 15 years, I became aware of fizzy vimto sold already diluted (previously I would dilute the cordial myself with water or lemonade).

I used to mix the cordial with lemonade where possible as this produces a heady mix of fizz, sugar and vimto fruityness. I am sure it is quite appalling for your teeth (sugary cordial PLUS sugary lemonade) but it tastes so lush it became a real treat for me after work to walk home (about a mile and a half) and have a tall ice cold fizzy vimto made using cordial and lemonade and lots of ice.

Now you can buy the fizzy cans. I find in comparison to the home made fizzy vimto, the cans lack something. They are fizzy but there is an extra layer of sugary rich taste missing. Maybe this is because the Vimto company use fizzy carbonated water instead of lemonade to make the canned drinks. Maybe they dilute it more than I would? The home made version with lemonade and cordial is much tastier!!

I went through a phase of going for long walks and getting a can of fizzy vimto on route, and it is a great canned soft drink in its own right. I would place it in between the diluted cordial and the cordial diluted with lemonade yourself in terms of good- very bad sugar intake.

One can will cost the same as a can of coke- some newsagents/ corner shops sell this for 50-60p a can. I have seen this sold as a multipack for £2.29 for 6 cans in Asda, but it is not the thing I would buy 6 or 12 cans of. I would either buy the cordial and make my own or buy a single can if I needed a pick me up or some refreshment.

Nurtitionally in the can you get:
44.5 calories per 100mls so a 330ml can= 139 calories per can approx (same as coke). I'm sure the homemade mix is loads higher, but as a treat it is always good to have the option of how unhealthy you want to make your drinks!

I would go for the can if I was out and about and thirsty and didn't want to buy coke or something else. Atleast with Vimto you get some Vitamin C and it does have fruit in it.

Summary: Good alternative to coke and other soft drinks
