Veba is an alcopop made by Vladivar.
Vladivar is the number 2 vodka in the uk at the moment and the manufacturers have updated their marketing to make it appeal to younger drinkers.
A quick visit to their website at www.vladvar.com shows exactly where there marketing is aimed.
It gives themed party ideas, competitions and cocktail recipes. It is definitely aimed at young women.
Veba is Vodka with a sweet and sour cherry flavour and in my opinion is far better than most other alcopops.
It needs to be served really cold and is absolutely fantastic on hot sunny days. It is definitely a summer drink.
At 5.4% vol there is a limit to how many you can drink in one day but it definitely doesn't taste like alcohol. I would say it tastes like cherry coke but with a bit of a twist.
If you like cherry brandy then this is definitely the drink for you. It is not as thick and sticky as cherry brandy but the taste is similar though not quite as strong.
As soon as you take the lid off and get a whiff of the lovely cherry aroma you are hooked.
When I first started drinking Veba it was only really available from Sainsbury's. Now it is popping up all over the place and can be found in most big supermarkets. It is starting to filter into the pubs and I guess the more popular it becomes the more readily it will be available.
It usually costs around £1.49 a bottle in the supermarkets which I think is rather expensive but then all alcopops are. If you shop around you can get special deals. At the momemt I am buying 6 bottles for £5 at our local off licence.
