If you're making a cocktail with all sorts of exotic ingredients, then use something cheap and nasty like Smirnoff (although that's not so cheap!). The only thing about Ultimate is that I'm not sure where I bought mine from, I think it was from Duty Free just before it was abolished in the E.U., but I'll have to find a stockist soon because I'm almost out of it!...more

I'll make no bones about it, I would have preferred to write an opinion on Vodka in general without mentioning any specific brand, and the only reason why I've chosen Vladivar Vodka is that I have an anecdote to tell about it, below. I shall also mention one or two other brands of Vodkas in passing. Ordinary Vodka is a clear spirit produced in many countries. There are also a small variety of 'flavoured' Vodkas now marketed, but these shall be ignored for the purpose of this opinion, because I believe, most firmly, that once you add any flavour, then the product ceases to be 'vodka'. In any case, I have only tasted the 'vanilla ...  Read the complete review

The thing about Vladivar is that they make (at least) two vodkas, the one thats really something special is Vladivar Ultimate. This is 100 proof and 57% alcohol by volume (for those of you who wondered what a.b.v. meant). It is much smoother than ordinary Vladivar, which makes it a great drink on its own - without ice, just straight from the freezer. If you do mix it, keep it simple. This is not a good vodka. Its a popular brand, but only because its cheap. Sure, its strong, and like all vodkas, you can hide the taste quite easily by whipping in some mixers. With Vladivar, you'd better be sure and throw in plenty, as believe me, you don't want to taste this one. True believers, I'm a vodka lover. Its a drink which has always been good to me. Smirnoff, and especially Finlandia rank amongst my favourite spirits. But I truly believe that vodka should be drank straight, either as a shooter or a sipper. Vladivar fails on both counts. I do feel like i'm being a bit harsh here, almost like i'm betraying an old friend, and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review New from Vladivar (140 words)

I was in the pub on Friday night, and saw a new alco pop by Vladivar. As i've not previously seen any alco pops by Vladivar i thought i'd give it a try! Its called VEBA it's vodka (obviously) and a mixture of sweet and sour cherries. I can't put into words how good this drink tastes. Its like all those cherry flavoured sweets you used to get when you were a kid! But at 5.5% volume, they soon have an effect on you. I personally cant drink more than three, as they tend to get a bit sickly sweet after that! But as a fan of alco pops I have to rate this as one of the best. Give it a try, but don't get too drunk!!! ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Vladivar Vodka: Secret Ingredient Numero deux! (198 words)

This is a great vodka, though it is not vastly popular except with those who can't quite afford a bottle of Smirnoff vodka. You know who I'm talking about, those underage drinkers that get random punters to go buy it for them. That's right, this vodka is slightly misunderstood because it is thought to be "cheap" but still it has so many great qualities. For instance this vodka is one of the greatest vodka's you can use to produce mixtures of the best standard. You can mix this with anything, I mean Rum, Gin maybe even beer or lager and it would make it taste reasonably good. With Coke or some other mixture it is still a great vodka.
