Disadvantages: The taste.
A few weeks ago I went on an 8 mile cycle with a few friends, after about 3 miles I had run out of water in the bottle I had brought with me and being a bit out of shape needed something to pick me back up. I stopped at a shop intending to buy a bottle of lucozade sport which I really enjoy and also feel does perk me up a bit after exercise.
On finding out that they had no Lucozade sport I decided to go for the only so called energy drink they had in stock, Volvic revive. The bottle I had was the citrus kick version which is yellow in colour rather than the red shown in the picture here. The bottle itself is actually clear it is the water inside that is coloured.
Well after cycling another mile or so I had my first taste of this citrus flavoured water that was supposed to revive me, at first I thought mmm that's not too bad but then I got the after taste as my mouth immediately dried, it was although I had been sucking on a lemon that had gone bad some years earlier.
I was so thirsty I had to reluctantly give this stuff another go and one more go was all it got, it really was a horrible taste and the after taste it left was even worse. I don't doubt that it may well be good for you and I can't say that it wouldn't revive you because I didn't drink enough to find out but what I can say is that it is nothing short of putrid and I would not recommend it to anyone.
If you are dying of thirst and this is all you have then see if there is a puddle nearby or just die would be my advice!
Summary: It might revive you if it didnt poison you first.
