Volvic - Touch of Fruit

Yesterday, I went down to Woolworth and got myself a bottle of water. Not just any water but Volvic -Touch of Fruit Lemon and Lime.

Volvic is owned by Danone, which also make yoghurts and yoghurt drinks.

++ The Packaging, Range and Price ++

It comes in a clear plastic bottle that has a different top for each flavour.
Red top - Strawberry Flavour
Yellow top - Lemon and Lime
Dark orange top - Orange and peach
And a new addiction to the range, light orange top - Exotic Fruit

I bought the Lemon and Lime flavoured water in a 50cl bottle. You can buy these in 50cl or 1.5 litre bottles. Also you can buy the 50cl bottles in packs of 4. I paid 84p for my bottle at Woolworth but it's cheaper in the supermarkets than that. So expect to pay between 55p and 90p for 50cl bottles and for the 1.5 litre bottles, between 90p-£1.50.

I think 5.4% of sugar is quite a lot in flavoured water so I wouldn't say this was a healthier replacement for drinks like Cola, Fanta, Tango or any sugary brands.
Okay, it may be healthier than drinks like Cola but I wouldn't kid myself that I was being good because I was drinking water because it's sugared water.
It's a good way to get your daily water intake (recommended eight glasses a day) but say if your glass was 25cl (half of the small bottle) which was make up 4 small bottles which is 2 litres.
So if you do the calculation: 2 litres is 2000ml/100ml *23.3 = 466 kcal a day
466 kcal is nearly a third/fourth of recommended kcal level for a day (depending on if you're a man or a woman) so I wouldn't recommend this for people on diets or who are trying to lose weight unless you only have one small bottle a day and make up the rest with normal water.

++ The taste, look and smell ++
It looks like normal water when you peer at it through the bottle. I open the bottle and take a smell. It smells lemony, clean and fresh. It might sound weird saying that it smells clean but sometimes water has a weird odour with it. Not that it's gone off but just smell like it has a lot of one mineral in it. I take a sip. I let the water dance over my tongue. It taste quite refreshing and the lemon flavour shines through. Can't taste much of the lime but I think the lime takes the edge of the lemon flavour so it's not so in your face. When the water is warm and not been in the fridge, you can tell it's very sugared.

Overall Comment
Lovely if you just want a refreshing drink to cool you down in the sunshine or as it a bit of an energy drink at work.

Summary: A nice sugared water
