Advantages: Doesn't taste plain like normal water
Disadvantages: High sugar content
I absolutely hate water, although apparently it's rather good for your skin so I have tried to drink more of it recently and I just can't do it, I mean, what is there possibly to like about it? I then discovered Volvic touch fruit, which means I can have all the goodness of water but have some taste with it too!
I bought a 50cl bottle in Spar and it cost me 89p. I didn't feel that this was too bad compared to other drinks in there but I imagine it is cheaper in supermarkets.
The expiry on the bottle was 20/01/2011 and it came in a clear bottle with a yellow screw on top. The Volvic logo is large and there are pictures of lemons and limes splashing in water on the label.
I really like the taste of this. I am not a huge fan of citrus but the taste isn't very strong so it makes it seem quite nice. Apparently the water has also been filtered through 6 layers of volcanic rock which gives it a unique mineral composition. I wasn't really too sure what this means but I gather it means that it is quite good for you! Always an added bonus!
I think that Volvic are such a good company because they give something back to the community and in particular Africa. For every litre that is purchased Volvic will donate 10 litres of drinking water to Ghana, Malawi, Mali and Zambia. This makes me more likely to buy Volvic over other flavoured water because not only am I getting something that tastes good but I am also helping developing countries by buying it. In keeping with ethical standards that Volvic have their bottle is also 100% recyclable and they are working to be carbon neutral by 2011.
One of the bad things about this drink is that for water it has an exceptionally high sugar count and contains 31% of your recommended daily allowance. It also contains 6% of your recommended calories.
The water tastes best when it is drank ice cold straight from the fridge. I find it really refreshing and even though the taste is minimal it is completely different to just drinking plain water.
Summary: Great flavoured water drink
