And it's needed, the Scotts the biggest drinkers in Western Europe, disease and violence rife in the principality because of it. The Scots had to act and they have, England sure to follow. But not everyone is happy, especially their world renowned whisky industry, the price hike likely to put up the cost of a bottle of firewater by 40%, a catastrophic rise in recession. Whyte and Mackay: I love a good whisky but unfortunately the piggy bank just can't stretch to a fine single malt on a regular basis so I've tried a fair few blended whiskeys to find an affordable alternative.
