Advantages: Lovely taste, refreshing drink when chilled

Disadvantages: Can turn sickly and lead to awful hangovers

When it comes to drinking I have to admit im a proper girly drinker - alcopops all the way! At present my favourite drink has to be WKD blue which is available in most pubs/clubs/supermarkets and off-licences nowdays.

Available in two colours - orange and blue, the blue is my favourite by far. It comes in a clear glass bottle with a bottle-top lid and the drink inside is a really bright vibrant blue colour - bit like the sea on a clear day.

A standard bottle of WKD Blue is 275ml and these are generally available to buy either in single bottles or in packs of 4 or 12. General pricing at a pub tends to be around £2.50 a bottl which isn't cheap. However, you can buy a pack of 12 from Tescos for the price of £12.23 so this is the cheaper way to go. You can also buy in 750ml bottles with a screw lid and one of these will cost you around £2.94 from Tescos but are not available to buy in pubs/clubs.

WKD Blue is a distilled vodka drink and is 5% vol. It does contain caffeine and for me could also be classed as an energy drink with all its flavouring. It is made from mixed fruit flavours and triple distilled vodka. One standard 275ml bottle of WKD Blue amounts to 1.4 units of alcohol, with the recommended amount of units for men being 3/4 a day and women 2/3 a day.

The main concern I find with this drink is that it doesn't taste alcoholic so on a night out you can end up drinking a lot more alcohol than you realise as you feel like you are just drinking a bottle of pop - until you realise you can't stand up anymore!!! Thats the main problem with alcopops in general in my opinion so keep an eye on how many of these you consume!!

The taste itself is quite sweet, yet after a couple of bottles can become rather sickly to me - oh, and it turns your tongue blue so if you still want to be looking classy at the end of the night i'd keep away from this - or keep your mouth closed!!

This drink is definitely best served chilled and is best consumed straight away after opening or else the bottle loses its fizziness. You can find more information on WKD drinks by visiting their website WWW.WKD.CO.UK. These drinks have a use by date of around 10 months on them so last a while.

Overall I do really like the taste of these. It has a real sweet 'pop' taste and can make quite a refreshing drink in the Summer, though after a couple you can start to feel de-hydrated. However, as said previously it is consumed far too easily and this has, at times, led to a few rather nasty hangovers!

So beware, drink it in moderation and you can appreciate the nice taste far more than if you have 'more than a few'. The taste turns sickly after a while and doesn't have quite the same 'nice' effect as when you first start drinking it.

Thanks for reading x

Summary: Best drank in moderation - best alcopop out there for me!
