Advantages: Refreshing, tasty, not too artificial!

Disadvantages: Doesn't really taste like cider

I first heard of this on a billboard at the side of the road, even from just seeing the advert I wanted to try the drink, as I quite like WKD the alcopop variety, although it tastes artificial and sugary, I like it. So when I saw this advert I was looking for it everywhere I went.

The problem I had was actually locating it in the shops.

Everytime I went to Tesco and Asda I looked on the shelves but could never find it, either in the alcopop part or cider part. But then after a couple of weeks, I went to a little pub down the road and they sold it and I finally got to taste it.

Price;
WKD Core cost me around £2.50 in the pub, this is for a 500ml bottle which is bigger than a normal WKD but smaller than a large bottle of WKD. When I did eventually locate it in a shop, it was £1.85 per bottle, and as of yet, I have not seen larger packs (as shown in the item picture), but they must be sold somewhere, but I can only make a guess at the price, I'd say it would probably be around £18 for 12 bottles depending on where you bought it from, but until I got a proper price I wouldn't be certain on that.

Packaging:
WKD Core comes in a green transparent bottle (like wine bottles). With a black label and black top, the kind you get on a beer bottle. The bottle has the traditional WKD bottle shape, and is found in the cider aisle, either in the fridges or on the shelves.

Taste:
Well to me, Core doesn't really taste much like Cider, but more like fizzy apple juice, more like apple VK, with a slight cidery kick to it. It's veru light in colour, and compared to normal cider, it's very very light and looks more like "white cider", rather than apple cider. Although it doesn't taste like it! As I said, it's more like pop than alcohol, which in a way is a bad thing as you'll probably end up drinking way too much of it!
If your a big cider drinker, and like ciders like Bulmers and Magners, you will definitely notice a difference between the tastes. And if your a white cider or scrumpy cider drinker, the difference will be even more apparent. I have heard it called artificial and sugary, but I don't really feel it is, and I really like it served over ice.

As long as you don't have high expectations of this tasting like real cider, then you'll enjoy it, it's not sweet and sickly like some ciders can be, but also isn't bitter and sour. But it's somewhere in the middle, and as I said it is lovely over ice and is very refreshing!

Where can I get it?
On the WKD Core website, it says the places which stock this drink are: Tesco, Yates, Threshers Group and Bargain Booze. But up to now I haven't seen it in my Tesco, which is in Warrington, and is a Tesco Extra. It seems it's only available in small quantities at the moment, but I found some in Bargain Booze last night for £1.85 a bottle and they had quite a few in stock!

A great refreshing drink which is gorgeous served over ice!

Summary: A lovely refreshing summer drink!
