... alcoholic content is 3.5% which is lower than most drinks of this type and some Alco pops too (I know because I love those too, lol!). The write up says there are sweeteners as well as sugar so that could account for the slight dry aftertaste and feel in my mouth? It is sold in litre bottles as well as big two litre bottles in most supermarkets and off licenses as well. This drink is very refreshing; it tastes very strongly of sweet apple and the colour is light amber with the bubbles very fizzy when you first op...more

Premium Review Woodpecker Cider: WOODPECKER CIDER - NOT JUST FOR 'BIRDS', HONEST GUV! (735 words)

"Oi am a coider drinker, I drinks it all of the day...!" I wish...'Hic'! Ahh, 'Woodpecker' - a gorgeous, medium sweet cider, born an bred in Herefordshire; the brainchild of Percy Bulmer - creator of that other famous brand cider name too. Fermented to perfection in 1894, it's become synonymous over time with the sweeter end of the drinkers' palate, for both its crispness and its distinctive trademark taste. Now I love the stuff and have done so for nigh on thirty years, there is no cider in its class to rival its unique apple-some flavour for me! As far as advertising goes, this alcoholic beverage is most ...  Read the complete review

This is my favourite cider! Made by H.P.Bulmers Ltd in England it is sold is bright red and silver can with a woodpecker birds' head on the front... The can I am reviewing is 500ml and is one of a multi-pack that cost £3.39 on offer in Morrisons. Made from English apples according to the woodpecker website this is what gives it its 'distinctive' taste. In this size can there are 1.8 alcoholic units - I think that is very responsible for a manufacturer to tell their customers that :) The alcoholic content is 3.5% which is lower than most drinks of this type and some Alco pops too (I know because I love those too, ...  Read the complete review

Reminisce with me once more to the land that time forgot ... a panorama of adolescence when a bottle of cider meant only one possible thing ...PARTY ON DUDES! A thousand teenage parties, a hundred regrets when you woke up next day with the knees out of your trousers when you got dragged through the bushes by your helpful 'mates'. When your mate told you that there was a party up the estate then you always went armed with a big slosh of aftershave and an enormous bottle of cheapo cider, constantly hoping that this would be the day when you finally lost yer cherry... Now THAT would have made a wonderful, vivid op, all luminous vomit ...  Read the complete review

Woodpecker Cider is an alcoholic drink originally made in 1894 by Percy Bulmer in Herefordshire, today it is still brewed by Bulmer's I must confess to having not drunk Woodpecker cider for a while, once over it was all I used to drink mainly as it was one of the few ciders you could get in most pubs. It was always Woodpecker or strongbow and I definitely preferred Woodpecker as I felt it was a sweeter drink and nice and crisp also Strongbow was often on draft rather than bottled and back then cider was not as popular as it is now so if you ordered one from a pump it was very hit and miss (you often got the feeling it had be sat in the pump for weeks ...  Read the complete review
