Wychwood Hobgoblin:
... m quite partial to a pint of ale once in a while, and I thought today I d share a few words with you on the subject of a cheeky little number called Hobgoblin, brewed by the Wychwood Brewery in Witney, Oxfordshire. I ve sampled this beer on a fair few occasions in the past: at beer festivals, on draught in pubs (when I ve been lucky enough to find it), in bottles and, more recently in cans. My most recent experi... Read the full review: Invite a Hobgoblin into your home this Halloween by skybluecat |

Wychwood Wychcraft ... folks at Wychwood have done it again. This time, the beer could not be more opposed to its favourite mascot in Hobgoblin. Wychcraft is a beer that surprisingly few people know about in my experience. I found this beer in part of a Wychwood collection I purchased. Cracking this one open first, as I was intrigued by the description, Wychcraft s flavour was rather unique to say the least. A great pale ale (almost verging on wheat beer status), Wychcraft manages to leave you with a distince mix of fruity and bitter tastes that neither overwhelm or underplay. As the bottle went on I started to notice an almost biscuity linger, that suited the hoppy aroma perfectly. ... Read the full review: A drink that almost slips under the radar. Wychwood Goliath Ale ... is a tricky one. Goliath is part of the eber brilliant Wychwood Brewey - perhaps the most innovate brewery to achieve excellent sales. This beer is marketed in an aptly colosall bottle of 660ML. The beer itself, however, is one that leaves a sense of curiousity and half dissapointment. Before I go any further I have to say this beer is a beauty. One that quenches the deep thirst of the ale fan and leaves room for more to tackle. This being said, I was expecting something with a big more oomph as it were. At 4.2% it is modest strength, plaacing it just a few decimal points above mild level and around the same as your typical hoopy and best bitters. The flavour... Wychwood Hobgoblin ... may just be one of the most appealing breweries in England. Not only are their creations fantastic, but they also entwine it with interesting artwork and names. Hobgoblin is probably the most well known of the wychwood beers, and for good reason. This ruby rascal is a dark ale of curious flavour. Hints of fruit are only detected after the initial punch of the dark malt and brooding bitterness is overcomed. Originally 5.5%, I have noticed the goblin has become slightly more stoic in his elder years - now clocking in at a weaker, but still punchy, 5%. Unless you are lucky to find it as a guest, or live near the brewery, it can be hard to find this fellow on tap ...
