“ Manufacturer: Campina / Type: Milkshake „
I enjoy drinking milk. Even when I was growing up I would go into the shop and come out with a small carton of milk while everyone else had a can or bottle of something fizzy. I think someone really missed out on disguising milk to make it more popular. Yazoo is probably one of the first milk shakes I tried and definitely got me hooked onto flavoured milk. FLAVOUR This particular kind is strawberry flavoured. Upon your first sip there is a rush of strawberry to the taste buds. This also makes it ideal for children that maybe don't like the natural taste of milk. With this drink I only focused on the strawberry flavour. Also it has to be drunk from chilled, pretty much like all milk, unless it's a nice glass of warm milk but I'm digressing. Otherwise it just tastes extremely horrible. TEXTURE For me I don't enjoy a thick milk shake. I usually want something that can quench my thirst and a thick milk shake just can't do that for me. Yazoo pretty much pours and drinks like normal milk, which I think is excellent. So maybe it should be a milkshake and is simply flavoured milk? But either way it's great for me Overall it's a great drink but the problem is you can pay a lot for such a small bottle. If flavoured milk is what you really want for the house then there are cheaper alternatives that give you more for your money. However, this is good for on the go and certainly doesn't look as odd as a milk carton.
The other day I popped into a Tesco Express to buy a drink on my way home from work, and originally picked up a small bottle of apple juice, but on my way walking towards the till I spotted this 475ml bottle of strawberry yahoo for 50p! Not one to resist a bargain, I quickly ditched my original purchase and grabbed this bottle and headed to the till. I am quite a milkshake person, and whilst I usually prefer banana or chocolate, the only flavour left was strawberry (typical!) but I wasn't too fussed. It comes in a white bottle witha different design to the out of date picture above as it has red detailing that says "max Fresh, Yazoo Strawberry" boldly strewn across the front. It has a red twist cap which allows it to be resealable and underneath there is a foil seal to keep the drink fresh. The milkshake is thin of an extremely milky consistency and taste wise it is not as strong as the other flavours in the yahoo range. It only mildly stays of strawberry and reminds me pretty much of milk to be honest! Looking at it, the milkshake is very faintly pinkish in colour so doesn't look rich either. It is a nice, refreshing drink but it didn't curb my thirst for long and I kept sipping it to make it last until I got home and would have something thirst quenching. The drink is quite healthy as the bottle states it is high in protein, low in fat (only 1.2%) and has no artificial sweeteners or flavours (pretty sure almost all drinks say this these days!). It does contain 35% of recommended daily amount of calcium which is good for someone like me as I don't have cereal, or drink tea etc so my intake of milk is pretty limited. Overall, this is nice as a one off as I really only bought it for the dirt cheap price to be honest. I think I would stick to my banana or chocolate flavoured yazoo's in future!
Me and the little lad love Yazoo Strawberry Flavoured Milkshake, though the dear other half isn't so keen on this. We buy the 475ml bottles and they cost us 70p which I don't think is too bad a price to pay. They are delicious. Sometimes these are on offer, but not always, so when they are, we tend to stock up on them. These shakes are in strong plastic bottles and they have lids, which screw off easily. They MUST be kept in the fridge though because obviously there is nothing worse than a warm milk shake! We both love the taste of these milkshakes because they taste rich and smooth. I love the very strong smell of the strawberries as soon as you pull off the foil tab underneath the lid. Sometimes with these things, the smell of the fruit can smell quite manufactured. This isn't the case with these Yazoo drinks - they taste and smell of real and natural strawberries as though they have been homemade. We like to add crushed ice to ours just to give them that bit of extra bite. We love to stick a couple of straws into a large glass with the milk shake and ice and watch a good old family movie together on a weekend. They are very moreish and thick and creamy and don't fill you up too much. It's a great way, we think, to encourage our little lad to take his milk and get his vitamins. Great stuff and highly recommended.
--INTRO-- Yazoo is a very popular and healthy ready made brand of low fat milkshake which is naturally made with sterilised skimmed milk, it comes in three flavours which are bannana, chocolate, and strawberry. It also come in three sizes, a handy 200ml lunch box sized bottle (which usually comes in a pack of 4), a 500ml regular sized bottle and a 1 litre sharing sized bottle. Yazoo is made by a company called friesland campina, which is one of Europe's largest and leading dairy companies. My family and i are big milkshake and milk lovers in general and have been for many many years, Yazoo is a brand we come back to time and time again and is also one of the products which manages to cause the most arguments in our house hold! Due to being as yummy as these undoubtedly are (especially this strawberry one), these milkshakes never last a day in my fridge and are always drunk in the blink of an eye by who ever is lucky enough to spot them first. 200ml x4 pack £1.24 500ml 89p 1 litre £1.49 --MY THOUGHTS-- I must at this point admit to being slightly biased on this product as yazoo strawberry flavoured milkshake has been my favourite guilty pleasure on a daily basis for the past 4 months, i can not get enough of this stuff! seriously i absolutely love it and do not mind admitting to being slightly addicted. I think this milkshake is best served ice cold, it has the best smell, taste and texture and beats all the other milklshakes hands down for flavour.... I love how this milkshake smells, once you puncture the foil seal and the aroma of full flavoured sweet strawberries wakens and excites your taste buds immediately making your mouth water, the colour of the milkshake is also very appealing i would describe as a pale pastel cerise colour with a kind of opaque creamy-ness. The taste is such a unique lovely fresh milky taste which is also sweet full flavoured and smooth, and extremely more-ish. Many milkshakes are often quite thick and sickly, not this one! The consistency and texture of this one is very smooth and not thick at all, in fact it has the same thickness as normal milk and is definitely not sickly sweet, lumpy or gloopy. Yazoo has got the balance of consistancy, taste, flavour and texture just right in my book with this milkshake and i can not fault it in any way even though i have tried to for the purpose of a balanced review. I think these milkshakes in particular are pretty special and offer everything you would want in a good milkshake, attractive styled packaging, full flavoursome taste, healthy and low in fat, no added junk, and comes in a variety of handy sizes for every occasion and is perfect for everyone to enjoy as a refreshing fabulous accompaniment to a meal, enjoyed on its own as a snack or as a rehydration drink before or after exercise, such a versatile product which is very much loved by adults and children alike and is well worth the price they cost which is in my opinion a very reasonable price. --FINAL WORDS-- This premier brand knocks the socks off all the others and comes first in every category from taste to value for money at affordable prices with health benefits. Needless to say i have, and would again highly recommend this yummy product, it is certainlya winner in my family and a product we would not be without. A well deserved 5 shiny stars from me.
Yazoo Strawberry Flavour Milkshake is a drink that I bought for my children recently - and I have to say that none of us were particularly impressed. We are used to drinking Frijj milkshakes and Innocent Smoothies and this really does not measure up to the quality of these drinks. The Yazoo milkshakes are more inexpensive and so this was the reason that I thought we'd try it. A Yazoo bottle of Strawberry Flavour Milkshake cost 70p for a 475ml bottle - and there was a two for one option on offer and so actually you could pick up two bottles for 70 - which equates to 35p each. This is clearly much cheaper than many other brands on the market and so if you're on a tight budget then they might be an option worth taking......but generally I would suggest going for one of the other brands. The Yazoo Strawberry Flavour Milkshake comes in a plastic bottle with a screw top lid. As it is a milk product, it should be stored in the fridge and it really is a lot more palatable if it is served cold with ice cubes. In order to keep the milk fresh, the top of the bottle is also sealed with a foil film which needs to be removed prior to drinking, but there is a lid to close the bottle again if you do not drink all of the milk in one go. The milkshake is smooth and looks as you would expect it too (pale pink and frothy). I found that it had a strong smell of strawberries, but felt that this strawberry smell was a little synthetic. The milk itself is a little thin as I have to admit that I prefer my milkshakes to be quite thick, luxurious and creamy - and I found that this is where the milkshake really let itself down. It is just a little too runny - although this can be nice if you're not wanting the milkshake to fill you up. The taste of the milkshake was okay as it does taste very much of strawberries, but again, this taste is a little synthetic. Overall, I would say that this milkshake is fine if you're on a budget and if you can get the two for one option. However, generally I would recommend going for the Frijj option.
Of all the off the shelf milkshakes I have try Yazoo are by far the best, especially the strawberry flavour. The reason it stands out more as a good milkshake is not for the low fat or healthy benefits or even its made naturally process. More important its the texture of the milkshake, as it is very smooth and is more like milk than the thick 'ice cream' type milkshakes you can get. What this means is that it is more drinkable and means 'brain freeze' is also less of a risk. So not only can be drunk easier but the more liquid state allows for all the taste to come out on your tongue, and its amazing how much it tastes like the flavour it says, especially seeing as its made naturally and does not use artificial colours or flavours as some other milkshakes have. Finally while it can be price differently depending where you are, but so far all the ones in shops I have seen have always been less than £1 which means it is also a cheap way to get a great taste and healthy treat.
I absolutely love milkshakes and the thicker (and generally the more cream or full fat milk in them) the better. All that cream and full fat milk can be very unhealthy especially as I tend to go through them like no one's business. This milkshake is a lot thinner than the other milkshakes like Frijj or some supermarket own brand. It is also made from UHT milk and so can be kept in the cupboard and chilled before use. As for the taste of this against the thicker shakes, well it will never meet the unhealthy satifying taste of these thicker ones but for a heathier milkshake it is good. This review is for the Strewberry flavour, and this is the best flavour out of the lot (Banana and Chocolate). It is a very delicate flavour and not over powering. It doesn't leave an after taste and doesn't over power anything you are eating with it. This comes in a lot of different size bottles, some small bottle for single use and some large bottles for sharing or putting in the fridge. At about £1 for 500ml this is very good value. When you look at the thicker milkshakes which retail for about £1.50 for 300ml it is good value. I couldnt drink this all the time but when times are hard and I really want a milk shake this is perfect. When I have a bit extra cash and I want a milk shake then I go for a thicker (more unhealthy!) one.
Today on the way home, I decided to stop off at the shop as I has some money to burn. For some strange reason I bought two Yazoos in Banana and Strawberry, I had never drank one of these before, and I can say that the Strawberry flavour was my favourite. I have not had the best encounters with some milkshakes (why it was strange for me to buy two milkshakes) as I find that many milkshakes are very thick, and they just don't appeal to me to drink, I prime example of these sorts of milkshakes are those that are sold in fast food restaurants such as McDonalds. The texture of these milkshakes is absolutely perfect, It's almost the same texture as normal milk but just a little bit thicker. The taste is also very pleasant, it is not very strong which I think is a good thing. The taste is just milk with a tint of strawberry which tastes very nice and creamy. If the taste was any stronger tasting like strawberry yoghurt for example, it wouldn't be as pleasant as it is. According to the back of the bottle, this drink is also rather healthy! It reads: Meets Government regulations for use in schools. Calcium for strong bones and teeth. Vitamin B to promote healthy growth. No artificial flavourings or sweeteners. Less than 5% added sugar. Low in fat.
I used to hate ready made milkshakes since I have tasted one of those thick shakes that are sickeningly sweet and gloopy (in my opinion). However I have to thank my friend for introducing me to Yazoo. She is a big fan of Yazoo, especially the strawberry variety and pretty much drinks a bottle a day. Due to her recommendation, I have decided to give it a try. At 90p a 475ml bottle at the cafeteria, it doesn't hurt much to try the milkshake. I was so surprised, in a very good way, when I first tasted this. As soon as you open the bottle, you can smell the sweet strawberries and they don't feel artificial, which is a plus in my opinion. The milkshake itself is of medium consistency and feels as if milk; it's not too thick nor too runny which is why I managed to finish the whole bottle in one go. This is a rare thing for me as I don't usually drink juices (500 ml ones) in one go as I feel bloated. Milkshakes are always best served chilled but this product can be consumed without being refrigerated. This is because it's made from long-life semi-skimmed milk (i.e. it has been Ultra High Temperature treated) so it lasts for quite a long time as long as it stays sealed. It has good nutritional values as well. It's not very low in fat but for a milkshake, it is of reasonable value that even adults can drink without feeling health-conscious. On average, you get 65 kcal from 100 ml; therefore a 475 ml would give you just around 300 kcal. Not the healthiest choice, but you do get plenty of calcium for your bones and a very tasty treat. Also it's just the thing to drink when you're busy with work and want a boost of sugar. Another option is to go for a pack of 6 x 200 ml school-sized bottles (used to be 4 packed but it's changed); they even have a complementary straw for each bottle. I think I bought the pack for around £1.50 but they may be on offer regularly. Overall, Yazoo has completely changed my spiked opinion about milkshakes and now I have one more thing to add to my lunch box list.
When it comes to milkshakes I only really like strawberry, I've always detested banana and to me, chocolate milkshakes are always lacking. I buy my Yazoo in a four pack of 200ml bottles and they cost me £1.00 from my local £1.00 store, that works out at just 25p a bottle - bargain! The milkshake comes in a little plastic bottle, each bottle comes with a straw glued at the side of the bottle that you can use to pierce the film/tin lid and then drink with. Upon piercing the lid you are met with a lovely, sweet strawberry smell that is very appealing. The actual milkshake is pale pink in colour and quite watery which makes drinking it a very refreshing experience, it's not one of those really thick milkshakes that you practically need a spoon to sample! I thought the flavour was very nice and the balance of strawberry to milk was spot on. The strawberry flavour is definately there and it's not drowned out completely by the taste of milk. The flavour was sweet but not sickly and when drunk chilled the milkshakes are lovely. If drunk at room temperature the flavour is still nice, it's just my personal preference that I like mine chilled. I think this milkshake is very tasty and not overpowering in flavour so great for kids, neither is it so sugary that adults can't enjoy it too. The handy size and the fact that they can be enjoyed at room temperature means that they are ideal for lunchboxes, picnics and days out. Knowing that each 200ml bottle has less than 5% added sugar and is also low in fat means that they can be enjoyed regularly and are not a fattening treat for once in a blue moon. Yazoo is made from 90% semi skimmed milk and uses no artficial sweeteners or preservatives either. Each drink is 130 calories. Overall I think Yazoo Strawberry is a very tasty, delicious drink. It doesn't taste synthetic or sickly, just a nice natural flavour of strawberries. Thumbs up!
My 7 year old son has become very fussy about beverages lately - he has gone off of apple juice, no longer likes ribena and doesn't share his sister's love of apple & elderflower (also reviewed by me) so it has been a pain trying to decide what to put in his lunchbox other than just plain water! When I saw a pack of four bottles of Yazoo in my local Tesco with a School approved! motif on it and decided to give them a go. He does like milk and often drinks it with his school dinner on the days he opts for those. I have only seen the the strawberry variety on sale in Tesco although my son says he has seen a child at school with a chocolate one but it is the strawberry one I am reviewing here. For £1.49 you get four 200 ml plastic bottles with a screw top lid (although once removed there is a foil lid to keep the milk fresh to also open but which has a handy lip that can be gripped and torn off). A small see through plastic straw is attached to the side of the bottle too. On getting the product home I noticed an asterix next to the school approved motif - I never like seeing these next to bold claims because it often detracts from the claim quite significantly in most cases once you read the small print. In this case the wording reads 'Meets Government regulations (England and Wales) for use in Schools so I don't know how one should take that. Has some significant research gone into just how healthy this product is - I don't know but the bottle states that this milkshake is of a healthier kind that is packed full of flavour and the stats do seem to back this up in as far as each bottle only contains 1.2% fat, less than 5% added sugar, contains calcium for strong bones and teeth and contains no artificial flavours or sweetners. So I was happy enough with this! The milkshake should be shaken before consumption, is obviously best served chilled and once opened treated like fresh milk kept in the fridge. This milk (being 'ultra high temperature pasteurised' milk) appears not to need refridgeration before opening as it is not stored in the chiller cabinet in Tesco and there are no storage instructions related to refridgeration prior to opening the foil lid. The milkshake is a nice pale pink colour (but my son doesn't seeem to mind this even though he thinks pink IS for girls only) and is quite frothy once shaken and dispensed into a glass although of course with the straw it can be drunk straight from the bottle (particuarly useful for lunchboxes because of this). My son loves these drinks and often asks for them and as milk is good for a growing child, and this one does seem healthier than some of those on the market, I am happy for him to drink this. I have sampled the product and it is quite an inoffensive drink - it has a pleasant enough smell although not overly strawberry like but close enough and a sweet (but not overly sweet taste) that does however linger on your tastebuds for quite a while. I wouldn't personally choose to drink this myself but for children I do rate this as a drink that is both fun and fairly nutritious for them. I did spot these in my local 99p shop so now purchase them from there rather than from Tesco where they are 50p more expensive. To get four bottles for 99p in my opinion is definitely a bargain! These come highly recommended by me if you are looking for a change or alternative to fruit juice/juice drinks in your child's lunchbox. Thanks for reading. x also on ciao under ryanellaxx
My favourite milkshake to buy readymade of the shelf or from the chilled cabinet is Yazoo and although you can purchase them in a few flavours I really enjoy the strawberry variety the best. I had one recently from Tesco which cost me 88 pence for a 475ml serving and I feel this is a good competitive price. The plastic bottle is recyclable and the red, pink and pale blue design of the wrapper makes it very distinctive in appearance. After you remove the red cap you will notice the opening of the bottle is sealed with a foil covering I assume for extra freshness. You need to shake first before drinking, to ensure I suppose that the milkshake is well mixed and nothing has settled near the bottom of the bottle. The drink is not amazingly thick but I find it extremely refreshing, the taste is very pleasant and authentic, it doesn't taste artificial at all which incidentally backs up the claim on the packaging that the product contains no artificial flavourings or sweeteners. When chilled and fairly cold this is a very nice drink. It is low in fat and suitable for vegetarians and as it is made with actual milk it is rich in calcium brilliant for strong bones and teeth. One bottle contains just under 6 grams of fat and less than 300 calories which as an occasional treat is reasonable in my opinion. A great drink for children but adults will love the taste and full flavour of this as well.
Since I was a little child I loved Yazoo. My mum always gave me a little bottle when I went to school and I have bought myself a big bottle of milkshake flavoured Yazoo last week. Yazoo milkshake is a ready made milkshake that is sold in a 475 ml plastic bottle. The taste is strawberry, which means it is sweet, and fruity. The bottle is easy to open with a screw lid and easy to close as well. I generally drink a zip or three and close the bottle again, so that´s why i like the closing of this bottle. I am a major fan of milkshakes anyway, and I love the fact that these days it is easy to buy yourself a ready made one. I don´t like to make myself a milkshake so this is a great alternative. I dislike artificial colorants in food, and I was happy to find out this pink milkshake drink doesn´t have them as an ingredient. This milkshake drink is made of whole milk and it is a sterilized milk drink. If you like to have a bigger bottle you can buy one for about 1 pound (which is the price for a 1 liter bottle). The structure of this milkshake isn't too thick, but not too thin eather, perfectly in the middle I have to say. The milkshake does smell sweet, but not chemically sweet. It just gives you a nice strawberry smell and a nice strawberry taste as well. I do like to shake it before use, and this milkshake is best served ice cold (and drinking it on a hot sunny day makes the picture perfect!)
I dont eat much cereal, and i dont drink many brews so i dont really get much milk from anywhere! I cant stand drinking a glass of milk all on its own, i hate the taste! But i absolutely love milk shakes! I usually buy boxes of powder to make my own, as it works out so much cheaper that way, but i do like to treat myself to a bottle of yazoo strawberry flavoured milk shake now and again! This strawberry milk shake is gorgeous when it is served ice cold. It is a thin milk shake, just like the consistency of normal milk, but it has a lovely strawberry taste to it. It is not too fruity, it only tastes of strawberries a little bit, but it just gives it some flavour that i can actually drink the milk with! It is very sweet and sickly this milk shake, i can never drink a full bottle. I always just have half, as this is enough for me. A full bottle is too much, and starts to make me feel a bit sick! I also find this drink very filling, it stops you feeling hungry. I hate thick milk shakes like the one you get from mcdonalds! This milkshake is nothing like that, it is just flavoured milk. It is smooth and creamy, and a great way to get some calcium! Suprisingly there are only 65 calories per 475ml bottle! I thought this product would have lots of sugar in it and be bad for you, but it actually isnt, so you dont feel quilty for treating yourself with it! This product is free from artificial sweetners and flavours. There are no preservatives and it is suitable for vegetarians. Shake this product well before you use it. Once you open this bottle, it needs to be kept refridgerated. just like normal milk. Also keep the bottle stored upright, so it doesnt spill anywhere. This strawberry milkshake comes in larger bottles and a variety of flavours including banana, strawberry and chocolate. I have tried the other flavours and they are both delicious too, but strawberry is deffinately my favourite. It is available in most supermarkets. It is always on a shelf though, never in the fridge, so you cant drink it straight away from the shop, as warm milk isnt very nice! You need to leave it in the fridge at home a while before drinking it. I dont think yazoo do their own powder version of milkshake but if they did, i would like to try it! Asda or nesquik milk shakes are similar in taste to this yazoo one, but none of them beat this one! It is deffinately the best strawberry milkshake i have tried, i would highly recommend it!
I love strawberry milkshake and often choose to have one when I'm out shopping. One brand that I continue to buy is Yazoo. This is for two reasons mainly, one is the flavour and the other the price. I bought a bottle today from Tesco. A 475ml bottle was priced at a very reasonable 40p, there were also chocolate and banana flavours available but these were priced at 42p. I found the bottle in the aisle with the jelly and custard and other desserts - it is worth noting that you do not tend to find this in the fridge, this is because it is made from long life milk and therefore does not need to be kept refrigerated until you open the bottle (then you must treat it as normal milk). The bottle has had a slight revamp recently, it is now predominantly baby blue in colour with a red lid and pink detailing at the bottom, there is a large strawberry and 'yazoo' is written sideways up the bottle in bold navy blue writing. The bottle tells us a lot about the product itself, it tells us it is high in calcium, contains vitamin B, has no artificial flavours or colourings, is low in fat and has less than 5% sugar. This is good for all you parents out there as it means you can quite happily give it to your children once in a while without feeling too guilty. So opening the milkshake, the plastic cap screws off easily and then there is a foil seal which you must peel off to get to the milkshake. The milkshake is a pale pink in colour and has a slight strawberry aroma to it. Tasting the milkshake it is immediately refreshing, it is quite creamy and has a nice strawberry flavour which is not at all overpowering. It has a nice subtle flavour and is a smooth milkshake, it is quite thin, and is slightly thicker than milk, therefore is not as creamy as other varieties. I find this easy to drink and find that it hydrates me and refreshes me very well. Some of the thicker milkshakes are filling but this one is not. 100ml of the shake provides 65 calories, 9.8g sugar, 1.2g fat (0.9g saturates) and 0.05g sodium. Therefore, this is quite high in sugar however compared to a number of other milkshakes it is quite a bit healthier and therefore it is fine to enjoy it as a treat every now and again. I really like this milkshake as I find it much more refreshing than the thicker shakes. Its great for people who dont like normal milk as it provides calcium. The price is very good for a bottle this size and it is also worth noting you can buy smaller bottles in packs of 4 (ideal for lunchboxes) for around £1.50, it is also available in larger bottles which I imagine are around 1 litre, I do not know the price of these though. I recommend this milkshake as it is good value and tastes lovely, I will continue to buy it!
