While I go shopping or out and about anywhere really with my twin boys I am always having to take bottles for them as they LOVE their milk. They tend to need them filled a few times throughout the day and to be honest I don't fancy carting round a 4 pint bottle of milk with me as it is just not practical.

Whilst looking through quick and convenient milk drinks I came across Yazoo. It was the name that caught my attention first off, a real funky, childlike name - it was only then I noticed other aspects of this particular drink.

Yazoo comes in either small or medium white plastic bottles or the larger 1 litre clear plastic bottles. The smallest bottles often come in packs of four in large supermarkets and are perfectly sized to fit into a childs lunchbox for school and trips. However I opted for the 1 litre bottle because it looked like it would have enough to fill at least 2 extra bottles for my boys whilst I was out and I could also see the pink shake inside - and me being a somewhat girly girl is drawn in by anything PINK.

Around the middle of the 1 litre bottles there is a pink sticker with the word Yazoo boldly printed in trendy blue writing. Underneath this I'm also told it is a 'milk shaken up with strawberry'. There are other flavours of Yazoo, each bottle having a different colour to represent the flavouring of the shake itself. Pink being strawberry, Banana owning the yellow bottles and of course Brown is the chocolate flavour. It also tells us on the front of this sticker that this shake is LOW in fat and has NO artificial flavours or sweeteners. I was straightaway impressed and bought some.

After unscrewing the red cap and peeling off the foil from the opening of the bottle - which is there to maintain it's freshness and also helps to prevent it leaking, the first thing that hit me was the strong and sweet strawberry smell. It smells very appetising just for a milk drink.

Now when I think of a milk shake I think of frothy, thick, creamy shakes, however this is far from frothy and thick, even after giving it a little shake only a few bubbles appear but then disapear within seconds. In fact this shake is just like coloured milk but has a lovely, tasty strawberry flavour. Although the consistency of this drink is just as thin as milk it actually tastes sort of cream and I also find it very filling.

On the back of the bottle we are also given a few plus pointers about this drink, these points being;

After reading the ingredients list I found it contains semi-skimmed milk and skimmed milk whereas I usually give my boys full fat milk.

I always buy this drink whilst out now if my boys are wanting their milk drinks, as not only does it contain less fat than full fat cows milk, it doesn't have as much 'junk' as some childrens drinks but the strawberry flavour adds a little kick to their drink which of course would be very appealing for a child.
