Raki tastes a lot like Sambuca which i like only it has a harder less pleasant edge. I first had it in a place you should never drink in, on a boat in the sun on my way to a deserted island for a barbque... This big fat greasy Greek man comes up to me with a glass saying 'drink... drink...' like im gonna just drink whatever a guy gives to me!!! What does he think i am? an English bird!!!! Obviously he's seen my passport so i have to DRINK! Mrs Doyle style!!! The smell is the first thing that'll hit you, aniseed not very nice in the baking sun. The national drink of turkey, now i've been to Turkey twice and i've yet to see anyone turkish drinking this. Many a time this disgusting has been offered to me but as they say once bitten twice shy. I'm not a fan of pernod but I can drink and I was was told it was just like pernod, no its not its ten times more aniseedy than pernod. This is a drink that the Turkish people give to tourists for a laugh as I have yet to see anyone actually enjoy it. Another strange thing about it is that when you mix it with water the two clear liquids combine and go cloudy and thats enough to churn my stomach.
