I usually buy whatever is on offer and that includes tea bags. However I recently experienced a fantastic tasting cup of tea at a friend house and when she told me she always used Yorkshire tea bags I decided to buy a box for myself. I like to drink decaffeinated tea and coffee whenever possible as to much caffeine tends to give me headaches so it was the decaffeinated tea bags I decided to buy. It’s strange the little things you remember from your childhood and whenever I think of my Uncle Fred, who died many years ago, I recall how he always proclaimed “I like my tea so strong that the spoon stands up in it!” This always perplexed me because I just couldn’t understand how such a feat could be accomplished and it was several years before I understood that some phrases and sayings just aren’t meant to be taken literally! As I grew up I realised I had inherited this family trait.
