I usually buy whatever is on offer and that includes tea bags. However I recently experienced a fantastic tasting cup of tea at a friend house and when she told me she always used Yorkshire tea bags I decided to buy a box for myself. I like to drink decaffeinated tea and coffee whenever possible as to much caffeine tends to give me headaches so it was the decaffeinated tea bags I decided to buy.
Yorkshire tea is made by Taylor's of Harrogate, one of the few remaining tae and coffee merchants left in the U.K. Taylor's of Harrogate have been in business since 1886 when Charles Taylor started the trading. Charles Taylor discovered that different variations in water can affect the taste of tea, so he decided to produce different blends to suit different water types. If you would like to know more about the company including information about the famous Betty's tea rooms in Harrogate then I would recommend you visit the Yorkshire tea web site.
Yorkshire tea is made using high quality Assam and African blends of teas. It is available in either boxes of tea bags or loose tea. I always buy tea bags as I find them much easier to use.
I like my tea to taste fairly strong and Yorkshire tea certainly fits the bill! Although I bought the decaffeinated variety it the tea had an excellent flavour unlike other brands of decaffeinated tea I have tried. I was impressed at how smooth the tea tasted with no bitter after taste. To make the best cup of tea I only ever boil the water once. If you keep water in your kettle and boil several times this will increase the oxygen levels in the water and adversely affect the taste of the tea. I am lazy and usually make my tea in the cup. Yorkshire tea doesn't need to stand for long unlike other brands.
Yorkshire tea is widely available from most supermarkets. It is available in a variety of pack sizes from 40 to 240 tea bag boxes. It is also available as loose tea. There are several different options to choose from including a tea for hard water, decaffeinated, gold and original. I like to wait until the tea is on offer and then stock up. However at present Tesco are selling 240 original tea bags for £5.76 and 80 decaffeinated tea bags for £1.91. This is more expensive than other brand but I think it is well worth it!
