Advantages: Great taste
Disadvantages: Quite pricey and one bag is too much for one cup
Yorkshire Tea, made by Taylor's of Harrogate, who own the famous and wonderful Betty's Tea Rooms (six of these in Yorkshire). Yorkshire is a county that understands tea properly. My grandmother lived in York, and my father lived there until getting married, and they both revered Betty's, enjoying very much the tea that was served there.
The tea bags are a generous size, and generous strength. If you just want one cup, don't use one of these, as it's easily strong enough to make two. You should be making a pot anyway, and sharing it!
Yorkshire Tea's traditional blend comes from over thirty specially selected teas from three of the world's top tea growing regions - Africa, India and Sri Lanka. It's simply a strong and refreshing sup of tea that satisfies your thirst and perks you up
Yorkshire Gold, which does taste even better, but costs a lot more, uses teas from twenty different types. The buyers travel around the world visiting tea gardens during the peak growing seasons so that they can see the leaves at their growing peak.
They also encourage growers to reserve their best teas for them.
There is even a different blend for hard water areas, which reflects the company's attention to detail. Just And for those who worry about caffeine, there is a decaff version. I've not tried this, as I like traditional tea, and it would be quite an expensive experiment, but I bet it's good.
It's readily available in lots of supermarkets. Prices below (in £)are those quoted by Betty's online shop, and there will be cheaper offers elsewhere on the net, no doubt. From time to time you can log in for a free tea sample, but it's not always available.
80 tea bags costs as follows:
Traditional £1.89
Hard Water blend £1.89
Gold £2.59
Decaffeinated £2.49
The traditional blend is available in 20g tagged bags (£1.64), 40 bags (£0.99) 160 bags (£3.45) and 240 bags (£4.75), so you save a bit by buying in bulk.
Summary: A great tea if you like a lot or to have friends in to drink
