Advantages: Full of mild flavour and tastes lovely...
Disadvantages: Costs more at full price than some ther brands...
I've only recently started drinking tea and these were at my Nannan's when I stayed there last week - my mum has them too so I am reviewing her packet of Yorkshire tea in a red and green packet as they are lovely and my mum says we are being patriotic as we live in South Yorkshire!
Made by Taylors of Harrogate, this 80 bag pack costs around £2 when at full price.
On the front there is a picture of a teapot that asks 'The best cup of tea in Britain! Try it and see', as well as saying it's a 'deliciously rich and satisfying cup of tea' which it is :)
On the back of the cardboard box there is a list of reasons why the maker think that Yorkshire tea is the best brew in Britain, saying that their tea is blended from a special recipe and is made to suit different water types, plus it is from a family business since 1886 with strong values too...
The box has a best before end date of Sept 2010 which as a dried product does keep well, plus the pack is sealed in a plastic wrapper to maintain the content's quality as long as possible.
Now I make my tea with sugar and milk and one of the reasons I like this brand of tea is that it is not too strong.
Some teas are really strong and dark in colour and flavour that I've tried, I had some Fairtrade ones once and they were really too strong for my taste buds :(
Yorkshire tea is a medium brown colour and smells really lovely when it's mashing. The colour is like a dark amber and the taste is really mellow, it doesn't say which tealeaves the company use but this is definitely not as strong as some teas from Asia. The teabags are square with perforations and are bleached.
This is refreshing and the best way to make it is to pour boiling water on the teabag before adding your milk and sugar/sweeteners if you use them and then just leave for a minute or two for the flavour to gently infuse...
This really is the best tea I've tried and although I'm told it's expensive it's worth it for a decent brew :)
Five stars from this patriot then, lol!
Summary: The nicest I've tried so far since I've started drinking tea :)

- 18/08/09 Tried a box of this as it was on offer, 160 bags for the price of 80. I thought it was OK but nothing special. They're not Fairtrade although the box does claim they deal responsibly with their producers. |
