The patterns that are programmed into it are very good, you can select the tempo and which preset drum kit to use (each one sounds different). There is every style imaginable from rock to dance patterns. I actually bought this as an impulse buy, my guitar teacher used his a lot in lessons so I decided to get one and I went for one of the newer ones. IF you don't know what a drum machine is, its basically a machine that lets you loop pre-recorded drum patterns, this one actually lets you record whole songs by selecting from different patterns. The patterns that are programmed into it are very good, you can select the tempo and which preset drum kit to use (each one sounds different).
