Freecom DVD RW Recorder USB 2.0 ... recently wanted an external DVD Rewriteable drive to connect to my computer and ended up choosing this one. It s from Argos and costs £40 which is one of the lowest prices around for this kind of equipment. I specifically wanted an external drive like this one that can be connected via a USB port so I didn t have to fiddle with things inside my PC that I know very little about. Setting this up couldn t have been easier. I unpacked it from the box, plugged in the power, put the USB lead into the drive and my computer and switched it on. Sony NEC Optiarc DRU-190A ... it from Ebuyer on standard delivery came in two days and was easy to install fitted into my dell system no problems. did not come with any cable to connect but as was replacing a brocken drive no problems for me. Was much quiter than my old Sony drive and much faster. Copies DVD no problems and does exactly what it says on the tin. I paid £16.49 for this item including VAT how can you go wrong for a Sony product with Sony quality for that price. It has burnt everything I have tried onto it and takes less than ten minutes for a DVD with a CD taking no time at all. This has a read speed of 16x max for a DVD and 48x max for a CD. Asus DRW 1814BL ... burner is cheap, cheerful and is capable of performing the job you set it (which is to burn and scribe disks). Various discs can be used with this burner, ranging from CDR/W, DVDR +/-, DVDRW etc but the main focus is on the lightscribe technology. The lightscribe technology built into the device allows the user to insert a blank disc into the burner and burn an image directly onto the disc, providing the media is compatible. I believe this technology is quite cool but rather limited in many respects as you can only print in black and white and the image looks very dull and plain compared to a CD Label.
