Sony DW-Q120A ... drive came with my new Mesh PC, and on the whole I have been quite impressed. It rips CDs and DVDs extremely quickly, an audio CD takes just a couple of minutes. It also burns at an olympic pace aswell. As well as this it is great having a combo drive, and not having to remember what way round the drives were. The dual layer capablities were also a god send when my PC crashed, I had backed up everything I needed on one DVD. It is also fairly quite, once it starts up poperly, it is no more noisier than my PC fan. However there have been technical problems, occasioanlly, it decides to masquerade as a CD Drive rather than a DVD-RW, which is annoying as I cannot then bu... LG GSA H10N ... to diagnose whether it was my drive or my writing software that was giving me jip, I replaced both, software first, and drive later. Suffice to say, reinstalling my software Nero 7, failed to resolve the issues I was having. With my old drive, the write would succeed, verification would run through OK, but when it came to using the disc in any of my stand-alone players, the image would be pixelated, if indeed it worked at all. I read a review of this drive, along with a number of others in the magazine, PC Pro, and it came out on top, even though the sample unit the magazine had was not a finished item. Lacie DVD+/-RW Double Layer Drive USB 2.0 ... LaCie DVD+/-RW Double Layer Drive USB 2.0 is a very reliable and strongly built machine. I ve had it for a few months now and it hasnt let me down yet. I use it weekly to back up my photography files onto dvd and various other documents and it does the job perfectly. Ok, its no speed demon, it took a good 1/2 hour to burn footage of my 1 year old nephew through iDVD but it got the job done and as long as you have the time, its no problem at all. A kool feature is that its basically a 4 in 1 drive. It ll read cd s, write cd s, read dvd s and burn dvd s.
