I have a great friend who is computer mad and he has his own shop so getting upgrades and parts for my computer is easy as if I'm not sure what I am doing he will instal the part for me and I can watch to see how it's done.
My DVD disk drive went wrong and had to be replaced so I bought a HP Dvd1270i from online at Techstore for £26 which is about average price to pay online.
This is an internal DVD/RW & DVD-RAM drive and has to be fitted inside the computer and attached by a seven pin connector which goes in the computer, as I said I'm not that technically minded so my friend fitted it for me.
I have windows XP and this is compatable with that and also with windows vista, and windows 2000 so it is compatable with most modern and some older models of computers.
It just slots in the front of the computer and you connect it up inside where the old one was connected to. It comes with software for you to get it started and loads this easily and fast.
You can also download drivers for this from the HP site online, my computer found the new hardware as soon as I switched my computer back on, so for me it was easy to use after fitting it. I just had to follow the on screen instructions.
The dvd runs quieter than my one that gave up the ghost so I'm happy with it.
It burns dvds quickly and comes with Nero burning program, cables, and mounting screws. It's a lot faster than my other burner, it rips music fast and plays dvds so you can watch them on your computer. Much like my older version but faster, quieter and newer.
The speed is 24x which is faster than my older one. All in all its a good improvement on the one that broke.
