I have to admit that I'm a fan of LG, with an LG TV, phone and now a third LG DVD drive. I'm glad I stayed with LG when I purchased this drive.
Very fast burning and reading speeds, as mentioned in the specification. The drive is capable of burning to all available types of DVD & CD, with light scribe ability, which works well. Although the front is matt black, the drive would look nice in a range of cases, and doesn't attract attention, as opposed to using a 'oh so lovely' beige one from the 90's. The drive is quiet and the spin up speed is good, allowing the disc to be read and appear on your screen within seconds - without the case vibrating across the floor. The drive is cheap, £15 at my last check. It's at the bottom of the price range as an OEM package - but for the performance, I think it should be much higher.
Out of about 50 discs, I have received no coasters, on cheap Tesco discs, not bad! I'm not sure how you could make a bad quality drive, but this one seems sturdy and still works fine after dropping it... twice.
I have to give it 4 stars because it has struggled to read a couple of my discs - this is probably an isolated case that has only affected me though.
The fastest write speed of 22x
