Great value for money, not a coaster so far

LG GSA H10N
Advantages: DVD-RAM capability, has worked with all the discs I have thrown at it so far.
Trying to diagnose whether it was my drive or my writing software that was giving me jip, I replaced both, software first, and drive later.
Suffice to say, reinstalling my software Nero 7, failed to resolve the issues I was having. With my old drive, the write would succeed, verification would run through OK, but when it came to using the disc in any of my stand-alone players, the image would be pixelated, if indeed it worked at all.
I read a review of this drive, along with a number of others in the magazine, PC Pro, and it came out on top, even though the sample unit the magazine had was not a finished item. I waited for a few month before the shops had any stock, but I am so pleased that I waited, the drive is worth it.
This drive will record most of the formats on the market today, including DVD-RAM, albeit outside of their cartridge, but this inclusion is nice to see when other drives prefer to leave the functionality out.
The drive I bought was the OEM version, so no software or media were supplied with it, but I prefer to stick to Ritek discs anyway.
I haven't used DVD-RAM discs before, but I may be tempted should the price of the discs fall a little more. My hard disk drive is struggling for space at the moment, and having some discs that I can change on a regular basis is becoming more attractive.
The OEM version of this drive is around about the £30 price mark, the retail version probably a bit more.
The formats supported I have listed below, with the max speeds that the drive can write those formats at:
Write speed: 48x (CD)
16x (DVD+R) / (DVD-R)
6x (DVD-R Dual-Layer)
10x (DVD+R Dual-Layer)
Rewrite speed: 32x (CD)
This drive is recommended to anyone looking to replace their existing drive, or if you are looking to buy a new install, I would recommend getting the retail version for a few quid more.
P.S. It is available with a variety of beige, silver or black fascias. Mine is black to match my case.
Summary: Good DVD-Writer, well rated by magazines also.
