... the past year or so there has been a bitter war between HD DVD and blu-ray over who woud be able to produce dvds and players of high definition standard. The war has now been won by bu-ray ( a feature available on the ps3), and HD DVD have been said to have died out and buying a player for these would be pointless. Alba DVCR2 ... a little high as the product is just a basic DVD Player and VCR with hardly no added features. The DVD Player and VCR are quite reliable but the DVD Player has a problem with copied DVDs such as family tapes that have been trasnsfered on to a DVD. The DVD Player plays them but it stops and skips so this is the only down side of the DVD Player. The lack of features means that this unit is very basic the unit does not include many features like todays units. You can now buy more up to date ones from £49.99 or even one with a DVD recorder from just £130.00 so now it not worth buying theses units so if you are after a dvd player with built in VCR do not get this one... Sony DVP NS355/B ... ve used this DVD player for about 5 months now and it s been fine! I was looking for a DVD player for a while now, I didn t want to spend to much and I thought the price for this one wasn t to bad and had liked the look of it, so I bought it. When I bought it, as well as the DVD player there was a remote control, batteries for the remote control, an audio-video cable & an instruction manual. I found it use ful that they gave you batteries as you normally have to go out and buy them yourself. There was no SCART lead so I was little dissapointed. Panasonic DVD LS82EG-S ... bought this portable DVD player because I had seen positive reviews about it, and wanted to see it for myself! I m certainly not disappointed with it and I m glad I did buy it! What stands out the most to me is the battery life. It lasts for hours! I heard the battery lasts for 12 hours, but found this untrue. Although it didn t last 12 hours I was still pleased with the battery life as it lasts enough time for me. You could probably still watch about 3 films without needing to re-charge. If you only listen to music on the DVD player, the battery lasts a lot longer than when you are watching films.
