Philips DVP3120 ... DVD player is one of the oddities of modern technology - the cheaper and older they are the more likely they are to play rental discs, and its very annoying. I think we have all had the frustrating experience where state-of-the-art kit won t play discs and we are up and down to the player to get through the movie, eventually whacking the box in irritation. For some reason £300 pound players will find every scratch and mark on the disc whilst those sturdy £29.99 jobs with just three buttons on the fascia will pretty much play any film, even those with the disc as rough as Cameron Diaz skin. Pioneer DV 626 ... have owned this DVD player for several years, I didnt buy it new but got it second hand via ebay. It is a hifi connoisseurs DVD player, state of the art, and plays DVD video, video cd and normal cd s. Lets just go through a brief description of the 4 types of digital formats available when this machine was created, Dolby digital, DTS, MPEG and linear PCM. This machine has an inbuilt decoder to stream the info contained on the discs to the AV (audio visual) components you are using. Using this machine allows you to enjoy cinematic surround sound from Dolby Digital and DTS audio soundtracks without having to have additional decoding equipment. I have mine attached to a ... Sony DVP FX850/B ... got the Sony DVP FX850B for my 18th Birthday as a present from my parents and since then it has traveled to many parts of the world and has lasted ever since. The DVP FX850B is more expensive than other portable DVD players available on the market however the price makes up for the excellent lifetime of battery and picture quality. The normal lifetime of a portable DVD player is on average 3 to 4 hours but the Sony FX850B has a lifetime of up to 6 hours, it lasted longer on several occasions.
