Sony DVP SR100B:
... few months back my daughters DVD player decided to start messing up a little, by this I mean that it suddenly began to decide which DVDs it wanted to play and those that it didn t, although it would often change its mind after each attempt to load the discs. Anyway, as my kids love nothing more than to settle down at bed time in front of one of their favourite shows or blast out some horrific music whilst watching ... Pioneer DV 410V-K ... changing appartment and TV and sound system I thought "hey, what the heck, new TV with HDMI might as well get a new player that outputs HDMI!!" Unfortunately, this was more of an impulse buy than anything else since I usually waste a few hours on the net reading peoples comments. Paid about £75 on a local store. It looks and feels well built and has a classy touch that you normaly find in more expensive gear. The so sought after HDMI connection was there as were component video and the normal connections you ve come to expect. There is also a front USB port where you can plug in a USB key and read several media formats. It also has progressive scan and bo... Marantz DV 6400 ... is most famous by its hifi audio equipment but don t be fooled by this! The company has put out a few good DVD players over the years and this is one such player. I got this used off the internet for a small fraction of its retail price; what a bargain! Not only can it play DVDs and CDs (including MP3/WMA/JPEG) but also SACD and DVD Audio formats. It also features a built in decoder for DTS and Dolby Digital which is quite useful when on a budget like me at the time: just connect the decoded outputs to a capable self amplified speaker package (or computer speakers like I did) and you have cinema sound for cheap. Of course you can also use it as a CD player and the... Read the full review: High tech for cheap, you can grab it here, if you still can by pcspinheiro |

Toshiba HD-EP30 ... the demise of HD-DVD players of this type were going cheap when I bought this one. What people don t seem to realise is that not only is this a HD-DVD player, but it is an excellent up scaling DVD player, and for the price it was selling for, it was a steal if just for that. The player is a a fairly plain looking all black, it has 6 buttons and a power button on the front and nothing else other than the LCD display and disc tray cover. It looks sleek and professional with its high gloss front. The EP30 incorporates one HDMI output, an optical and a coax, analogue 5.1 is not found on this model but is found on the EP35. A nice feature here is that the HDMI is versio... Read the full review: Toshiba HD-EP30 - Dead technology still worth its weight in gold? by cliffy88 |
