Sony DVP NS 535 ... first starting out in Home Cinema I knew relatively little in terms of the different hardware available. Rather nievely I assumed one player would be just as good as another - how wrong I was! I opted to go for the Sony 535 through neccesity more than anything else to be honest. I acquired the player around the time many players were having difficulty playing DVD's such as 'Gladiator' and 'Toy Story Ultimate Box Set'. Out of about 5 different brands of players I experimented in, this was the only player to handle these discs! Proline 1000 DVD ... bought my proline little under a year ago, at first I thought i had a bargin, a dvd player for little over a £100. However on release of Meet the parents on dvd i decided to rent it. On placing it into my player it went through the intro and to the menu. This is where it stopped and would not continue. The proline will not play more modern DVDs, on returning it to comet they explained that in order to cut cost they cut memory size, and as DVDs are becoming more complex it cannot handle them. After two weeks of pestering they came to the conclusion that they could not infact upgrade the machine and had to give me my money back. So what do i suggest to fellow ... LG DVD 3200 ... in a video rental store I have had many people telling me of the delights of the world of DVD. Unfortunately, working in a video store means I haven't got much cash to spend on one. Routing around the internet I came across an ad for the LG3200E (multi-region) for £130.00 and decided to take the plunge. I was pleasantly surprised on its arrival to discover a classy piece of equipment: slim, sleek, silver and with a scart lead. Unfortunately this is where my own problem started. The set-up manual made no sense to me (and I have set up many a home PC etc.). It suggested by use of large pictures (and little text) that a scart lead, audio plugs and s-video were ...
