Toshiba SD 200E:
... giant Toshiba is one of DVD's biggest and most successful companies. They have a knack for producing players with superbly crisp pictures. Although sitting next to many other entry level DVD players this one isn't one to be dismissed. There are plenty of gizmos to play with all designed to give you the most of that digital disc. The build quality of this player is very good, it's solid and the b... Read the full review: Blidingly good by matt_uk |

Sony DVP 5 ... is beautiful! Why buy a big old bulky DVD player that takes up acres of space when you can buy this little fella for the same price ( or possibly less ). Its got all the standard functions ( PAL/NTSC Playback of DVD Video, Audio CD, Video CD, Dual Discrete optical pick-up, Advanced smooth scan, Ultra slim design, Built in battery charger, SRS headphone surround - same as the Sony DVP-FX1 ), the picture is fantastic and it has the ability to hook up to your amp for that all important surround sound. Surprise, Surprise as the name suggests its portable - just plug n play it couldn't be easier. This model does not have a screen, but is it really necess... Toshiba SD 3109 ... 3109 is one of the first DVD players on the market to caddy two discs. It has great looks, an internal 5.1decoder, DTS out, N-2-2 spatializer and all those little unused gadgets like display dimmer, 3X zoom, slow motion, memory function and much much more. So Gadgets apart, what is this box really like? Well, at first the two functions that hit you are "hey it caddies two discs" & "5.1 internal decoder, not bad". Well, the dual disc caddy... the answer there is, if you haven't had one, your not going to miss it. But don't be fooled into thinking that it is a gadget that is a waste of money and time. It is surprisingly handy, and the lon... Read the full review: DVD mothership by |

Samsung DVD 511 ... Samsung 511... what could possibly go wrong with a DVD player from a reasonably good manufacturer like Samsung? A lot, I'm afraid. I swapped this player twice and still had problems. Maybe it was a bad batch; I'll never know. First of all, the player seemed to overheat after about 30 minutes. "Don't put is on top of anything else", I was told - hands up who keeps their Audio/Visual equipment stacked up in a cabinet? Overheating is just not the kind of problem one expects. The unit plays MP3s, apparently. This seems like a great feature until you realise it doesn't read CDR's - are we supposed to be buying MP3s in the shops or someth... Read the full review: Junk.
