Samsung DVD 511:
... Samsung 511... what could possibly go wrong with a DVD player from a reasonably good manufacturer like Samsung? A lot, I'm afraid. I swapped this player twice and still had problems. Maybe it was a bad batch; I'll never know. First of all, the player seemed to overheat after about 30 minutes. LG DVD 3200 ... bought my LG3200E after getting sick of my Samsung 511 overheating, and I haven't looked back. With prices ranging from £130 (Toys R Us) to £150 with 3 free DVDs (Comet), you really can't go wrong. LG are quite a decent brand, as they design and manufacture all of their own electrical goods. This player was bought on recommendation as a result of this. The unit itself is platinum, which looks very sleek and stylish. The remote control is one of the best I've seen in this price range, and is extremely well thought out giving access to all of the more important functions (menu, pause, stop etc) without even having to move ones fingers. Sony DVP FX1 ... player came out last summer. At the time it was the lightest, snazziest and best-performing portable DVD player available on the planet. This player has outstanding performance and is slim enough to fit into the pocket of your jacket without ruining it. The player has a 7" screen which i think is big enough for any portable, but it doesn't stop there, the screen of a very good quality with the picture quality being way above average. The clarity is superb. It also supports DTS, but you'll need a decent surround sound system if you want to test it out. Technics DVD A 10 ... is one of the best DVD players that i have seen. The gold champagne colour is just excellent and really makes it look super classy. This player is one of the few DVD-A format, which can play conventional DVDs but has even better sound and picture quality. This player has many features, it has DTS decoder built in for theatre sound surround and quality. There are also all the other features that you would expect of a high quality DVD player from scan features, zoom and playable in different screen formats.
