Advantages: Plays videos AND DVDs, good quality, easy to use
Disadvantages: Not good for those with only DVDs, old model now
I am currently using this whilst staying with my parents whilst working, and I must say it helps relieve the boredom!
It's a nice silver colour with 2 slots on the front; one for videos and one for DVDs. I use the DVD side more, but both sides have buttons underneath them stating the usual - play, pause, rewind, stop, skip for the DVD side, all the controls you need for when you lose the remote (which my family has a habit of doing...). There is also a black screen which shows a digital clock and also the time of the DVD/Video whilst it's playing; it can only play one at a time, so whichever you've put in it will tell you how far into it you are!
It's like any normal DVD or Video player except it's two in one. You can either play a video in it, useful if you do still have videos because I know a lot of people don't like throwing tem out but even more hate having a separate player for them, or you can play a DVD in the other side, a popular choice nowadays. I've only played one or two of both Videos and DVDs so far, and it's worked exactly like my other DVD player; pop the disc or tape in, press play for the Video or let the DVD start automatically, pause, rewind, fast forward or stop when needed. Easy.
It's also got quite a stylish look too; I like the silver DVD players, and this pulls off that typical look quite well. Black ones look weird, but silver ones go with anything and make anything look good. I also have a silver TV so that helps!! It's the easiest thing to set up too; hook it into the TV, plug it in, set the time if you so wish, and pop in a film - done! The quality is good, the picture doesn't break, but obviously as it's not exactly the newest type of player it does skip on DVDs sometimes! Every player does that though, and there's been no problems with the Videos I played yet so kudos for that.
The remote control that comes with it is silver too. I'm assuming that the buttons are labeled to show you which controls which type of film; as you may have guessed the remote is no longer with us, so I'm having to do everything by getting up and pushing buttons but it's really not that hard - they're smack bang on the front so you can't miss them, and the labels are that clear you don't even need reading glasses!
It's probably not the best one to use, I'm sure there are newer models out there like this, assuming people still watch videos! For my uses at the moment though it's really good as I'm getting quite nostalgic being back home and have wanted to watch all my kiddies videos all over again!
Summary: Good for simpler people, and those who like DVDs and Videos
