This is a versatile 3-Disc DVD changer that can play, DVD, VCD, SVCD, CD, CDR, CDRW, plus it can play MP3 files from CDR and CDRW discs. It is for Dolby Digital and DTS movies. For Dolby digital you can hook the 5.1 speakers directly into the back and get true Dolby 5.1 sound because it has a built-in decoder. For DTS you will need a receiver that is DTS ready, you can also run the Dolby through a receiver that is Dolby 5.1 ready. One disappointment is there is no optical hookup, though there is a coaxial hookup and a S-video hookup. (Optical would be the use of a fiber-optic cable.)
