Advantages: plays DVDs...most times
Disadvantages: sometimes plays DVDs in slow motion
Purchased this DVD player while I was unemployed and moving into a new flat. At the time I was looking to spend as little as possible, hoping for a product with basic functionality. This product fit the bill and has, for the most part, delivered well.
As I say, I didn't expect much, particularly given the price tag - less than some new DVDs these days. At times it is a bit slow to start up, and you need to press the buttons twice to get them to respond. Also it does not seem to like burnt DVDs, and tends to play them in slow motion, more often than not. Unwatchable, unless you're drunk...I've heard.
Occasionally that problem extends to original DVDs, which can be quite annoying. It's fixed by restarted the DVD player (once or twice).
At the end of the day, 85% of the time, the product does its job without incident. If you're willing to put up with the other 15%, given its price, it's a good buy, value-wise.
Summary: Given its price, the drawbacks are acceptable. Does what it says on the proverbial tin.
