Cheap and maybe cheerful basic player (Argos Value Range DS-306A)

I bought one of these last year as I wanted a basic player for the bedroom
The menus were fine and i liked the options and settings that were available to me.
The picture quality was acceptable and i was initially happy with this machine

I did not like the very very bright red light in standby, i could not understand why it seemed to be the reverse of; light on when powered up and light off when powered off. It was not a small light and would almost act as a nite lite in our bedroom.
I even found it an irritating aspect of this machine.
I found that I had to unplug this machine unless I was using it.

This machine worked or rather the remote worked only for about 4 weeks and died. The player is currently gathering dust

The player cost only £14.99 at the time i purchased it; so trying to locate a replacement which could cost at least 2 thirds of the price of a new machine doesn't seem worthwhile.

Summary: you nearly get what you pay for
