I bought this machine for my sister, hoping to be able to hack it later so I could bring my R1s over for out friday-night movie seshes. One of the major flaws of this machine is the shadows and artifacts displayed in high contrast scenes. It's not a major fault, but it is annoying. For the £99.99 you get a capable machine, but the technology inside leaves a lot to be desired. Try playing Shrek on it and you'll see what I mean. The machine struggles so hard even to get the main title up, you'd swear it was sweating! (Also has trouble with the extra features on 'Fast and the Furious') In short, if you're going to buy a budget machine, spend an extra £30 on the next model up, you won't regret it. As for the extra feature written about previously about this machine, sorry, but you'd expect them on the most basic of players, the features indicated are nothing special.
Update! 17/5/2 Being my first DVD Player I had no frame of reference and was initially impressed with it! However, after encoutering special feature playback problems on many discs (Gladiator, Shrek, Meet the Parents etc.) I decided to return it to Argos for a refund. Even though it was way past the 16 money back guarantee the were very helpful. Don't bother with this machine! It's definately not worth it for £99.99... ---------------------------- This is my first DVD player. I bought it from Argos for £99.99 although I was expecting to get the Alba 113 model which I had read positive reviews about. They substituted the Alba model for this Bush one (although they're probably the same inside as I think Bush belongs to the Alba group of companies). It has all the normal functions like zoom, slow motion etc. Apart from playing DVDs, the Bush can also handle Video CDs and CDR/RW which is great if you use a PC to burn MP3 tracks onto CDs. You can hook the DVD player up to your HiFi and listen to your MP3s without turning the computer on! If you have a Digital Camera you can also use your PC to create a Video CD of JPEG files that you can view on your TV screen - the photos fill the screen and look great! I can't complain about this DVD player - it's fantatstic value for the price!
