Advantages: none it broke down after 3 hours
Disadvantages: Broke down
Have to go against the majority opinion here. I noticed this player in the window of my local WH Smiths where it had been reduced from £150 to £100. This appealed obviously, and I also liked the look of the machine. I was impressed to read it had been voted best buy by various magazines and DooYooers. However, I set mine up to my TV with a Scart lead. All went well until after 3 hours play, the screen would flash blue lines sometimes. This eventually became more frequent until the screen became totally illegible and began to buzz. White lines appeared even when there was no disc in the machine. To remedy it we tried different discs, we tried different scart leads, used alternate sockets, we used AV leads, and eventually, a different television. The same problem each time. The machine broke down after 3 hours use! I will be taking it back to the store for another machine, but I don't hold out much hope. This was a disappointment and I can not rate this as a good player in my experience. ADDENDUM: The replacement player seems to be working fine, especialliy as when I opened the new box, it was obvious the old one had been opened. This looks bad for WH Smiths, selling a player which has obviously been tried and repackaged, perhaps even returned once already. B******s.

- 21/04/02 Yeh, I'm sure it was a problem one off (the box looked like it had been opened) but I can only rate the player by my (admittedly poor) experience. |
