Advantages: Cheaper, good sound, allows peripherals to be attatched

Disadvantages: Heavier than the Panasonic

Now this is something you'd want to hear about. The world is changing fast and these days everything has to be portable. I have to admit currently you can buy the Panasonic portable DVD player in the UK but you can buy the Aiwa through the net, as I did. So why did I opt to get rid of my Panasonic DVDL50 Portable DVD Player for the Aiwa XD-DW1 Portable DVD Player?

The AIWA Portable DVD Player works with a rechargeable battery and allows you to play DVD/VCD movies or CD recordings virtually anywhere. The battery last approximatly 3hrs which is good enough for me, it's 1 movie.

The screen is almost 6 inches but it doesn't seem proportional with the height...erm, I suppose you can call it Xtra-Wide screen. It doesn't have a black border around it's screen like the Panasoni so it looks better. But, it's heavier than the Panasonic, the on screen features and options are not as good as the Panasonic, the picture is sharp but the Panasonic seems that 1 pixel sharper. Ok, it's not really as good as the Panasonic in certain respects...but it's a hell of alot cheaper. The Panasonic cost almost £800 whilst the Aiwa cost £500. You can buy a decent TV with the amount you save.

Unless you can afford such items it's not worth buying them but if you do the Aiwa is the one to watch out for. A few extra feature is not worth £300.
