Advantages: Dialogue enhancer, Optical Out, NTSC to PAL Converter

Disadvantages: Tracking Wheel on remote, No direct speaker connections

I bought this DVD player from Richer Sounds in London Bridge a few months ago,so I've had a fair amount of time to play with the thing!
Picture quality is fantastic and so is the sound. I don't think anyone will be unhappy with the playback functions. It even has a dialogue enhancer to help bring out the verbal sounds from the background noise - this is especially good for two speaker systems, where the sound isn't split into the proper channels.

The in-film menu can be a little hard to navigate - but once you get used to it, its a doddle.

When I bought this from Richer Sounds, I paid the extra 20/30 quid to make the machine multi-region. This is a must if you want to enjoy DVD titles from abroad, such as America.
If your worried about playing RCE titles on this player - don't be! I played Hollow Man (region 1) on it the other day, and it works fine. So, as far as I can tell, RCE is beaten on this machine - but that maybe because of the multi-region mod that Richer Sounds fitted.

As far as outputs, it has optical output for digital surround sound processors, scart, phono sockets (for hi-fi's).

One downer I found is that this DVD player only outputs through scart in composite or S-VHS and not RGB. But to be honest S-VHS seems just as good to me.

This player will convert output from PAL DVD's to NTSC (the american standard).

On the whole, I would recommend this player to anyone looking to buy something better than the cheapo alternatives.
In short if you prefer excellent picture and sound quality to gadgets and output ports, then get this player.

Sorry for the lower rating, I just felt you didnt go into detail about some of the machines features, concentrating more on the mod you had fitted. Sounds good although I would rather buy a cheap DVD player from Tesco, get my clubcard points and have the mod put in all for about £140. Now thats the way to do it :) Steve
