Panasonic DVD A 160 ... bought this DVD player at Christmas 1999. It cost £240 having initially been put on the market for about £400. The reduction was due to stiff competition from many of the excellent budget players. The picture quality is really superb using the S-Video channel. I deliberately puchased a machine without and on-board Dolby Digital decoder because I intended to buy an amp dedicated to this. I have not regretted this decision. The signal for the decoding is sent via an optical connector and works very well. I would really have liked an RGB option but this is not available on this machine. Panasonic DVD L 50 ... Panasonic L50 is a luxury, I agree. It ranges around £700 ( if you shop around on the net you can get it cheaper AND chipped as a multiregion player), you can get many home DVD players for half that cost. But if you're a frequent traveller and are stuck with the sheer lack of in-flight entertainment this is your ultimate gadget.Or alternatively if you have money to spare and fancy making your mates go green with envy... The L50 is the middle range model of Panasonic's portable array. ( the latest is a L75 I think.. it is slimmer but more expensive) It weighs around 600 g ( without the battery) and is only 14 cm x 15 cm in size with a thickness just over an... Panasonic DVD A 360 ... have lived with one of these DVD players for about 8 months now, and it is a really great player. The features on it are good, and the video and sound reproduction make it rise high in the class stakes. We bought the model with an integral Dolby Digital decoder but the only problem is that you'll need active speakers because the signal is not amplified. This baby can also be chipped, for about £20, which means that you can not only watch DVD's from the home region, but from all over the world.
